Please join us on Tuesday, March 21st from 4 to 8 pm as we host our annual Celebration of the Arts event in conjunction with our Barnes & Noble Book Fair. This year, we will be using vouchers to ensure the district gets full credit for all purchases made during the fair. Please feel free to share these with friends and family and encourage them to attend this fun event!
Activities will include performances from both our orchestra and band members, door prize raffles, a free kids activity table, and of course our own mini art gallery as Barnes & Noble will feature artwork from our district children throughout the store. As with every year, ALL purchases you make during the event will benefit our District 48 libraries! Please see the attached flyer and vouchers for additional details. FTC Newsletter – 3/10/2017
Linked below is the FTC newsletter for this month, with information about upcoming FTC events and activities.
The FTC leadership group has been in discussion with the school regarding an issue that has arisen with regards to FTC events. An increasing number of children have been coming to FTC events unaccompanied by adults. FTC events are intended to be family events, with an adult attending the event with the student(s). Both FTC and the school are concerned about the safety and liability of having children unaccompanied at these events.
In order to ensure that all students are properly supervised, we are going to have a few changes with regards to entry at FTC events. These procedures will take place starting with Family Science Night on March 8.
- Students must enter the event with a parent or other adult
- The family will be asked to sign in for the event
- Students will be issued a wristband
- Adults must stay at the event – none of our events are “drop off” events
- For indoor events, once students are in the building they need to stay in the building unless they are leaving for the night
- 7th/8th grade student volunteers may come to events unaccompanied by an adult for the duration of their volunteer work — they will be given further instructions prior to the event
Thank you for your understanding on this issue. The goal is to keep all students safe, and for all families to have a great time at these events!
We are very excited to announce that we have completed the capital campaign to fund the Albright scoreboard and Swartz stage curtains!!!! The schools are developing a schedule for installation – which we hope to finish before year-end. We wanted to thank all the district families who supported this project, whether through donations or by supporting your Albright student who participated in monthly activities to raise money for the scoreboard. More information to come.
Family Science Night
Family Science Night is next week – Wednesday, March 8. At this event children learn about STEM topics through hands-on exhibits that are designed to create interest and excitement about science topics. This year we are having a “Mad Scientist” show. Please plan on attending this fun, educational event – one of the district’s favorites!
Family Science Night Volunteers
Family Science Night requires lots of volunteers to make it special for kids. We welcome any parents or caregivers, as well as any 7th and 8th graders as volunteers for this event. Please contact Kate Beckwith via text @ 630-667-3330 or e-mail @ firstname.lastname@example.org for further details.
